Dear Music Box fans

A very warm welcome to all our new parents and children as well as those returning this year for more musical magic.   We were overwhelmed in the first quarter by the incredible support of our valued schools and parents.  We are proud to present Music Box to you and know that our most valued little supporters will LOVE all that Music Box is bringing to them this year.

Did you know: Music Box is now offered at 140 SCHOOLS?

Nursery, pre- primary and special needs schools. We also offer studio classes in Parktown North, Randpark Ridge, Broadacres and we are looking at launching at a venue in Bryanston this quarter.

Some highlights from our adventures with Humpty this term

Term 1 was one of “old school made cool”. Golden Oldie nursery rhymes were twisted up and renewed like only our incredible Music Box coaches can.

Children responded with awe and much excitement as their favourite nursery rhymes came to life with a fresh new twist!

We went to visit Humpty Dumpty’s house in Soweto on a Taxi and we drove our cars and caught a train to visit the Hickory Dickory Mouse – he lives in Funky Town! These songs involved lots of movement and creativity as we jived on the Taxi or moved like a train. We also learnt about forms of transport.humpty

We went to Nursery Rhyme School with the ‘Wheels on the Disco Bus’ because Humpty and Friends go to school too. We heard the bell ring at school and we learnt to play and sing to ‘Bana Ba Sekolo’. These activities strengthened our rhythmic skills, auditory memory as well as fine and gross motor skills.

Eensy Weensy Spider transformed our castanets into spiders – a big hit with most of the children but a few were not too keen on the spider look. Castanets are wonderful for developing fine motor skills important for pencil grip and writing.

Hickory Dickory crash was a HUGE hit – we are sure you heard about ‘the elephant who crashed the clock’. This classic rhyme was reworked to include various animals and develops rhythmic and numerical skills as we hear the animals go up the clock and we count the clock chimes.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on Humpty’s hand helped us to stretch and relax after all the excitement and dancing.

Registration gifts

All our little musicians were kitted out with either a stunning colourful T-shirt, backpack or baby bib.  Please check with your Music Box coach if your child has not received their gift.  It forms part of the registration fee in our extra mural schools. Shirts and backpacks are available to purchase for our curricular schools – contact your Coach to order.

Feedback

You are very welcome to contact your child’s Music Box coach for any feedback on your child.  We don’t hand out reports, but welcome your interest in your child’s education.

WHAT NOW?

We have launched into Space this term and have already done a trip around the sun! Our good friend “Oh” from Planet Boov, has come to teach us all about space and all the different planets.  The children have recognised him from the movie “Home” and relate to this very cute little character and all his emotions, very well! We will finish up the term with some Dinosaur learning – sure to be a hit with the boys.

We look forward to the next term of fun filled activities.
